Upper Arlington Purse Snatchings
Posted: 30 Mar 2016 06:18 PM PDT
This week’s Midweek Special focuses on a series of Felony Thefts/Purse Snatchings which took place in Columbus, Worthington, and Upper Arlington.

Between Wednesday, January 27, 2016, and Friday, February 5, 2016, a series of purse snatchings occurred at various locations of Kroger store parking lots in and around the Columbus area. All of the victims were elderly women who had just completed their shopping and were putting their purchases in their cars as unidentified subjects drove up and suddenly snatched their purses. The same suspects are believed to be involved in a number of these incidents. On January 27th, a Worthington victim’s stolen credit card was used at a Sunoco station, located at 700 E. North Broadway, to purchase gas and buy cigarettes. On January 27th and February 5th, additional incidents in Columbus occurred at the Kroger store located at 290 Crown Plaza Dr. On January 27th, one of the suspects approached the Red Box video machine, snatched the victim’s purse and ran back to his car, fleeing the area. On February 5th, the suspects drove alongside the victim in the back of the lot and snatched her purse from the shopping cart while she loaded groceries. Again, on February 5th, Upper Arlington police had a similar purse snatching from a Kroger store lot located at 1955 W. Henderson Road, which may be related. The suspects stopped alongside the victim and asked a question before snatching her purse. In this case, a female suspect was driving. Suspect #1 is described as: tall, thin, light colored beard/goatee, wearing a white hoodie, and may have neck tattoos. Suspect #2: in his 20’s, 5’9”-5’11”, medium build, short brown hair, beard, wearing a gray hoodie. Suspects’ cars are a 2010-2013 blue Chevy Impala and a black 2009-2010 Toyota Corolla. Photos of the male suspects and their cars may be viewed on our website at www.stopcrime.org.

Please be careful and if possible take a small purse with only the necessities, leave all that extra items we tend to carry at home. Don’t give thieves a large target.

Active Shooter Seminar coming to Sharon Woods this Fall

I recently had the opportunity to attend an Active Shooter Seminar conducted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Dept. and Columbus Police.  It was informative and received information that I can use personally and in business.  We are in the process of scheduling this training for the Sharon Wood’s Community this fall.  Please watch for more information in the Gatepost and on this site.  Pat Wood

We need you to support sidewalks on Maple Canyon!

An urgent request:

For the last few years the SWCA has been requesting sidewalks on Maple Canyon from 161 to Jewett. We are asking for your help in making our community a safer and better place to live. We need you to write a letter to MORPC to request sidewalks on Maple Canyon.

MORPC (Mid Ohio Regional Planning Committee) handles allocating federal transportation funds to local municipalities and ODOT.

If any of you travel Maple Canyon you see how dangerous it is for everyone walking whether it be students to Beechcroft or anyone trying to walk up and down Maple Canyon.
Comments can be be emailed to mtp@morpc.org or in writing to MORPC, 111 Liberty St., Suite 100, Columbus, OH 43215, Attn: Thea Walsh. MORPC will hold a public open house regarding the proposed projects on March 15 from 4-7 p.m. at 111 Liberty St., Suite 100, Columbus.
