I just spoke with her grandmother and they are doing well. I am going to call the little girl Missy (that is not her real name).
Missy has some clothes and has been changing her clothes often – too funny. She is excited to get her hair cut tomorrow in preparation for school. She does have a winter coat now. Her favorite color is “purple.”
I have collected a few clothes and hope to collect more yet this weekend. I also have some money they can use to purchase her school clothes, shoes, etc. Her grandparent’s appreciates everything we are doing.
I have had an inquiry for a Sharon Woods resident about what she wants for Christmas and that they are willing to meet up and take her shopping. I have given this information to Missy’s grandmother and she will let me know.
Code spoke with the grandfather on Tuesday, he said that he would be very grateful for any assistance he could get.
She is scheduled to get enrolled in school, and receive any medical attention she might need.
She now has a bedroom of her own, (some) clothes that are clean and a dresser to keep them in, food whenever she is hungry, an actual bathroom with running water and a door, a clean bed with sheets, blankets, pillows… and people who will care for her rather than her having to take care of them.
This little girl is probably a size 7 or 8. I am collecting clothing, toys or money to give to the grandfather to get her what she needs to attend school and just every day life. If you want to donate, please give me a call @ 614-406-4829. Thanks Pat Wood
Code Enforcement has been to this property several times and have spoken to the occupants. None of the occupants were listed as an owner. To my understanding, the owner is deceased and the older gentleman who use to live there is in a nursing home.
The occupants were told last week that they would have to vacate the property on Friday, Nov. 10, this did happen.
The occupants were allowed back in today for 30 minutes to gather up their animals.
The house had NO heat, rooms were boarded off so as to keep cold air from moving through.
The water was turned off, I believe, late last week.
There are unpaid taxes on the property.
There are windows broken with a picture hanging over the opening.
The trash throughout the home and holes in the walls & ceiling were terrible. There was writing on many walls.
It was difficult to walk through the house.
Code enforcement will board up this property on Tuesday, Nov. 14. They will request that all of the trash on the outside of the property be removed by the city.
We don’t have a lot of details on the house itself yet as ownership has to be determined and it most likely will be sent to court to have the city take over the property and possibly re-hab the house. The code supervisor said that she will keep me informed. She knows that the community wants to get this property cleaned up and so does she.
Good news on the 7 year old girl who lived there. She is now with her grandfather in Johnstown and will be enrolled in school and have plenty of food to eat. I know that the ladies at Good Shepherd will be sorting through all the donations to find clothing that will fit this little girl.
